Does anyone read this site any longer? I hope so. It's a great site.

Question: somewhere in a book, someone made reference to Warriors of the Deep mentioning that the Silurians might be from Mars? Is this true? Does anyone know? I cannot get to the Transcript site for some reason.

No, the Silurians are from Earth. They lived around the time of the dinosaurs *handwavy Doctor Who science here!* and went into hibernation deep underground because they thought an asteroid was going to hit and kill them all (it wasn't, it was the moon) This meant that they never woke up - until humans begn excavating around the areas they were living, using complicated energy and sometimes this disturbance woke them up. They were not entirely delighted when they found out that man had taken over and would rather like to defeat them. Hence all their actions ever since.

Silurians are from Earth. (http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Silurians)

The person might have got Silurians confused with Ice Warriors, who *are* from Mars.

Nope. The person who wrote this was in ABOUT TIME vol 4 and it stated "the Ice Warriors and the Fendahl came from Mars and if Warriors of the Deep is taken at face value, so did the Silurians. " I looked through the transcript of that story and found nothing.

They're wrong twice over then: The Fendahl comes from the real fifth planet, the one between Mars and Jupiter.

The actual quote, prompted to reread it due to your answer, was "AT least two other space traveling races have come from this (solar) system (the Ice Warriors and the Fendahl...plus the Silurians if Warriors of the Deep can be taken at face value).

So he's righta bout the Ice W and the Fendahls coming from our solar system. I guess one can say the SIlurians come FROM our solar system but unless he's seen and is counting Dinos on a Spaceship (he can't have as this was written in 2004 and IS really quite a good book), maybe he's thinking the Silurian ship was a space/submarine spaceship and/or he's counting the Silurian--Ice Warrior carapace look as alien.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the writer (s) were using the armour of the Silurians (that looked like Ice Warriors?) as evidence?
