Off screen encounters between the Doctor and Master [Jan. 13th, 2013|05:23 pm]
Canon Fodder

Are there any off screen encounters between the Doctor and Master that take place during the time frame of the TV episodes? (Going by TV canon only)

The only thing I can think of is that in Terror of the Autons, when the Time Lord warned the Doctor that the Master was gunning for him, he said to the Doctor (as verbatim as I recall it), "You've defeated his schemes before." But I don't recall any dialog describing unaired adventures after the Master's introduction. More usually, at least in the 80s, each time the Master popped up, his actions since their last aired encounter were cataloged by way of explaining how the Master survived the certain death he'd been left to.

It is not clear if the Seventh Doctor is present when the Master requests that his remains be transported to Gallifrey, but it is surely more likely than not that the Doctor would have been a witness at the trial on Skaro.

I attempted a full list of Master stories in all versions of Who, including chocolate bar wrappers, at http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/1954418.html .

A story on chocolate bar wrappers. Chocolate bar wrappers. I feel my vocabulary is insufficient to describe how much I want this to happen in modern times

Arguably they must have met between planet of fire and mark of rani as six doesn't even react to the master being alive.
